Freddie Johnson, J.D., MPA

Chief Medical Service Officer, Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation

Freddie Johnson has served as BWC’s Chief Medical Service Officer since 2012, overseeing the various operational components of Ohio’s Health Partnership Program. Before joining BWC in 2008, Freddie worked as the chief financial officer for a former vocational rehab service company, Parman Group. Following a nine-year stint with the Ohio Department of Health in the Women, Infants, and Children Program and in the research area with health policy, Freddie joined Nationwide Insurance as a manager in the Office of Health Planning and Development. He also held various other Nationwide leadership roles, including serving as an Officer within Gates McDonald, and Nationwide Better Health, a disability prevention and management company that included services for workers’ comp, absence management, wellness, and disease management.

Freddie earned his master’s in public administration from The Ohio State University and his law degree from the Capital University Law and Graduate Center. He is a licensed member of the Ohio Bar, the U.S. District Court, Southern District, and the U.S. District Court of Appeals, 6th Circuit. Freddie has also received certification as a National Certified Arbitrator, as well as a Certified Medicare Secondary Payer Professional.
